Riding Ability
Bonanza Creek is a true horse riding guest ranch and we’re a great fit for guests with riding experience. We spend long hours in the saddle (4-6 hours each day) and ride a wide variety of breathtaking terrain including steep climbs and descents. (You’ll get a good sense of the variety of our beautiful country from the many photos on this website.) It’s important for your enjoyment, and the enjoyment of the other guests, that you’re physically fit and have riding experience and saddle time before you arrive.
We ask that ALL riders be comfortable in the saddle and able to control a horse and ride at a trot. While we’ll match you to the right horse for your ability, some riding experience is necessary.
All riders must be physically able to mount their horse unassisted. While we have a mounting block available at the stable, on the trail, stumps, rocks and high ground will provide the only mounting assistance.
The weight limit for riding is 225 – 250 lbs, depending upon height and physical condition. Pregnant women cannot ride. We welcome families with kids age 8 and older with riding experience.
ADULTS-ONLY WEEKS
Come and enjoy a kid-free atmosphere with other adult riders. Eight weeks of riding and fun just for you the weeks of June 10, 17, 24th, August 19, 26th, Sept 2, 9 & 16th.
The weeks of June 10, 17, 24th, August 19, Sept 2 & 9th are for adult ADVANCED RIDERS only. You must be able to safely gallop in open country as these rides are faster and longer in varied terrain. We have lots of well trained horses with plenty of get up and go. Being fit is a must.
The weeks of July 8, 22nd, August 12, 26th and Sept 16th are for EXPERIENCED RIDERS who know how to ride in varied terrain and are comfortable at a canter in open country but prefer a more leisurely, scenic ride on a good responsive horse. There is always the opportunity for some good gallops if you like, but no pressure to view our world at a fast pace. Kids are welcome the experienced weeks in July.
Come anytime, any week as we are always able to match a horse to your ability and do lots of riding every week. If your family or group has a variety of riding abilities, that’s no problem. The weeks of July 1, 15th, and August 5th are for you.
